Prayer Request April 2007

Sometimes the complexity of things makes us desperately wonder how, or if, it's ever going to work out and leaves us breaking our brains to come to a solution.
Now, when God's ingenious mind can (and did) create for example, nature, which is not only for our pleasure and enjoyment, but also produces the air that we breath, how much better can He take our mess and turn in into gold?! We may not see it, but when we turn it over to Him in faith, He joins it all together, to come to His perfect plan and solution for us.

James 2:22
Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?

Please pray for the family, friends and loved ones of Jeffrey Shelton, 34, and Sean Clark, 35, in bereavement. Both men were Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers and were shot in the line of duty on Saturday night.

Lord, I lift up the burdens of the sick and afflicted, including Pia's family. Have mercy on us all Lord in accordance to the riches of thy grace and glory in Christ Jesus. Lift us up in paths of righteousness for your name's sake. Deliver us from all evil, and comfort us through the consolations of the Gospel promise. Amen!

I pray that you would imbue us all with humility and grace that we will be reconciled to our brethren in Christ amidst the tumults and conflicts of everyday life. I pray that you would safeguard our paths, and be a light and lamp unto our paths. I pray that you would shield us from harm and place a supernatural hedge of protection around your flock.

I pray that we may guard our ways, our speech, and be slow to speak and quick to hear.

I pray for those who have lost loved ones recently. It's difficult to fathom their heartache and sorrow sometime, but we should take heart in the Gospel promise, and be more imbued with an eternal perspective.

I pray that you would raise up laborers for the harvest field, and bring more missionaries and native missionaries together to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world. Your Word tells us that the Gospel of the Kingdom shall be proclaimed to all the nations! And may it be so! May we all be more sensitive to the necessity of the Gospel call and may we take heed to it.

I pray that you would open a door to those in our prayer group seeking professional advancement, or those struggling with financial burdens. Give divine direction to those in the prayer group, especially the young twenty-somethings trying to get a start in life.

I pray that you would alleviate ethnic strife and tension in the world. The devil feeds off of hostilities between nations, and we of faith should seek brotherhood among all men. The Lord in His infinite wisdom purposed differences among men and made innumerable unique nations throughout the world, and we should revere these differences, and realize that we of faith are all blood brothers in Jesus Christ. Christ is the bond that unites us irrespective of what nation or ancestry we claim. I beseech you by your tender mercies and lovingkindness to imbue us with a spirit of humility, and a desire to see more people come to know Christ from all colors and creeds. Forgive us for pride and neglect which makes us indifferent to other peoples, and to the Gospel proclamation. May you nurture a bond of reconciliation between diverse peoples, through Christ Jesus. May the nation that formerly warred against one another sup together in the bonds of friendship and fellowship. Grant us peace in this world Oh Lord. The wealthy nations are so blessed materially, and yet many nations neglect the necessity of the Gospel proclamation.

I pray for Muslims, Buddhist, Hindus, and ask that you would illuminate more lost souls to the truth of the Gospel and the promise of redemption that comes through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Whereas, we were once in darkness, you gave us former blind ones the eyes to see. I ask that you would do the same for lost souls throughout the world.

We give you thanks and praise for the sacrifice of our blessed Savior whose deep abiding love for us goes from ever lasting to ever lasting.

May I strive to be a better Christian. May I strive to exhibit servant leadership, and commit myself to walk in the way of integrity, and be helpful and supportive of my brethren in Christ. May we all strive to serve more faithfully. Lord, I seek a humility that is not feigned, but geniune, and mindful that I inevitably fall short of your perfect glory. May I grow to be more like my blessed Savior.

At the end of the day, I cannot say God set me apart me for redemption because I was brighter, a little smarter than the next guy, or more righteous. I loved the Lord because He first loved me, and destined me to be conformed to the image of His Son. Our best works are like filthy rags in His hands. I humbly say as the publican did... have mercy upon me Lord, a sinner! I am a sinner and look to the tender mercies of my Lord Jesus Christ.

In The Name of our Most Blessed Redeemer,
Amen and Amen!

I just wanted to recommend anyone needing a pick me up from a daily devotional to check out Charles Stanley's books.

I've found when fellowship is lacking, or when I am not deep enough in the Word that just scanning a devotional can help get a day off to an upbeat start.

Please consider Charles Stanley's devotionals:

Most gracious Heavenly Father, I pray for Pia's mother, and ask that You would lay Your miraculous Healing Hand upon Her, and that You would restore her health and her heart, and give her longevity and alleviate her ailments. I pray Lord that You give her surgeons wisdom in the operation, and you would restore her supernaturally and comfort her with your Holy Spirit. I ask this in Jesus' name.

Lord God, I see so much suffering in this life time in the lives of others, and I hope amidst all of life's trying times, Lord, you will shepherd Your flock and give us an eternal perspective. Help us to see Jesus Christ amidst life's trying times and grow closer to Him.

I pray also for Nan's family who are still mourning the loss of their beloved Abby. Lord, I don't understand all of Your ways or Your perfect plan, but I pray for insight and courage to persevere for us all.

I lift up the burdens of each and everyone on this prayer forum. Lord, I pray you would humble us all, and mold and make us into the men and women that we ought to be in Christ.

Lord, we give thanks, praise, and honor for the monumental sacrifice of our blessed Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. We thank you for life and life everlasting. Give us the courage to proclaim your truth, and let our light so shine before men.

In His Most Precious and Holy Name,
Amen and Amen!

In a world full of sin and strife, and a world that needs the good news of Jesus Christ more than ever, let us be mindful to bless others, including those who wrong us. We should not predicate our treatment of others on the basis of how they treat or mistreat us, but rather on the basis of grace and mercy. Let us strive to be more Christ-like. It's what Christ demands of us. Bless those who persecute us. Bless and curse not. It takes character to walk away from a broken relationship, and bless the person who wrongs us. We should pray for them, not resent them. Grace and forgiveness is a reward in and of itself, as it liberates the heart, and gives us a clean conscious. It is what Christ has done for us, and we should strive to emulate our Lord and Savior.

I pray where I fall short in this area, the Lord would give me the grace to be more Christ-like, more merciful, and more forgiving of others.

John Piper's addresses the demand that we bless our persecutors in his book What Jesus Demands from the World among many other issues.

Love Your Enemies and Lead Them To the Truth

When I reflect upon the work of my missionary friend in a Muslim-dominated country, I see a man deeply imbued by humility, a love for the Gospel. Many non-believers and believers alike question why anyone would take risk for the sake of the Gospel. He and his family faces risk sure enough. But as John Piper rightly says risk is right (Don't Waste Your Life p. 79-98), especially for the proclamation of the Gospel. Many Christians are insensitive to the need for a Christian witness to Muslims and the necessity of the Gospel proclamation. May we strive to be more Christ-like, and bless Muslims that there are hearts might come to know the truth of the Gospel, and that their eyes may see the truth.

Not everyone is called to be a missionary, but we should pray for our brethren in Christ called to the harvest field, particularly where they face danger (Matthew 9:37-38).

For anyone out there having relationship friction with anyone, whether it is an avowed friend or foe, just stop and think, 'What Would Jesus Do?' It's hard sometimes, but just reflect upon it. If we meditate upon Scripture like the Beatitudes, and in the face of opposition and ills perpetuated against us, make it a point to respond in a Christ-like manner rather than protest about a right to righteous indignation. Let us think of grace and mercy.

May we all leave our pride at the foot of the Cross, and strive to be more Christ-like.

What is Christian Reconciliation?

We ask your prayers for Claire, especially her husband, who had a tumor removed which, after examination, turned out to contain cancer-cells. They are facing a difficult time full of uncertainties and tests. Please pray for strength and healing as they go through this trial.

We also ask your prayers for Gayla and her family. Her husband has just lost his job and Gayla asks for prayer.

And lets please still remember all the people in the requests mentioned above. Every prayer is so needed. It's such a small thing to do, takes up hardly any time, but is oh so powerful!

Thank y'all!
