We encounter road bumps, pitfalls, detours, and sometimes even U-turns or dead ends. We may have to start over or retrace our steps.

That can be disappointing, but don't let it discourage you; you may have learned something along the way which will be helpful in the future. We ought to be thankful we are back on track and set out with renewed hope and faith that this time we will get there!
The decorating, shopping, gift-wrapping, cooking, and a gazillion other things are taking up every spare moment we have. We are getting ready to remember, celebrate, and be thankful for God's greatest gift to us; His only begotten Son.

It's the gift that keeps on giving. So, let's try to remember and be thankful for this wonderful Gift on the other 364 days of the year as well.

A very Merry Christmas, everyone!

1 John 4:9
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-43292842909204061132014-11-03T09:14:00.001-06:002014-11-03T09:14:42.266-06:00Prayer Request November 2014This is the month where we are made to sit down and give thanks to God for all the provisions and blessings He has given us throughout the year. The reason why I wrote 'made to sit down' is because there are many people who otherwise wouldn't even consider praising God and giving thanks.

Life can be hectic and put a lot of stress on a person. It can take precedence over prayer, counting blessings, praising, and thanking God daily. Sadly but true, God has been put on the side burner (maybe even entirely aside) of many.

Let's try and reverse that. We all have several minutes to spare during the day. We ought to use those wisely by giving thanks and praising God for all He has and constantly is doing for us!

Psalm 100:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-27067623165624383582014-10-02T10:35:00.003-05:002014-10-02T10:35:52.741-05:00Prayer Request October 2014After a stressful day we don't think twice about how good it is being able to lay our heads to rest, drift away into a peaceful sleep and leave the worries behind for a little while.

We take for granted evening will come and we can retreat for the night. Yes, evening will come but how often has it occurred to us how blessed we are having made it through another day safe and sound?

When we count our blessings we realize we have a lot to be thankful for!

Proverbs 1:33
but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-70586384636226774852014-09-02T07:41:00.001-05:002014-09-02T07:41:45.661-05:00Prayer Request September 2014There are times when people come up with ideas we do not always agree with. We may consider it best to say nothing, simply because their actions are not our responsibility, but it doesn't hurt to voice your concerns and objections in a kind and caring manner.

We may do things differently. That doesn't mean our way would be better though. It could be helpful to point out our concerns, so others can incorporate them in their decision-making and do what is best for all. As long as we do it with and out of love!

1 Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-5470946057540706642014-08-04T06:36:00.004-05:002014-08-04T06:36:59.673-05:00Prayer Request August 2014You just don't know what God has got in store for you. It may not all be what you had wanted or how you envisioned your life to be. Things and situations may happen which throw you for a loop. To us, it may seem like those occurrences came out of the blue, but God already knew about it before it happened.

Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it is to test our faith and make us stronger. At other times God has something totally different in mind for us then we do. No matter what evolves in our lives, we can always trust and rely on God to use it in everyone's best interest!

Jeremiah 33:2-3
That usually involves traveling from one destination to another and participating in activities you normally don't do. You may not consider this, but you are putting yourself more at risk of injuries or for finding yourself in a dire situation.

Faith goes a long ways. God will keep us safe and He doesn't put more on us than we can bear. That doesn't mean we can throw our caution by the wayside. We do have the responsibility to carry out our part and avoid putting ourselves and/or others in danger.

Let's keep an eye out and God will see to the rest!

Philippians 2:4
That doesn't last long. Whatever occurs happens for a reason and I already know that the reason will be revealed in God's appointed time.

Armed with that knowledge, what is the purpose in wasting your time by fretting over and dwelling on it? The best thing is to ask yourself; 'What would Jesus do?' and carry on in His footsteps. Eventually, everything will fall into place and turn out for the best!

2 Peter 1:2
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-241078928683243902014-05-01T08:25:00.000-05:002014-05-01T08:25:12.865-05:00Prayer Request May 2014Have you noticed how fear and doubt always throw a wrench in the works? When you don't want something to happen, you do everything you can to prevent that. Oddly enough, the actions you take as preventative measures actually ensure your fear will come to fruition.

It is always better taking a positive approach instead of a negative one. Try working for what you want in love, hope and faith. If it is God's permissive will, it will happen in His appointed time. If it is not, than have faith; all will work out for the best!

Hebrews 11:6
That is especially true when you know you have done everything you could that was for the best, and there is nothing else left for you to do.

Those are the times when you have to give it over to God and place it in His capable hands. Practice patience and keep on praying. When it is in God's permissive will, all is going to be resolved in His time and the way He knows will be best.

Maybe we ought to do it more often; let go and let God!
It is not easy when we have to go on without our loved ones. Our hearts are heavy with sadness and the empty spot they leave behind hurts tremendously.

Many have been called home and because of God's greatest gift of all to us we know we will see them again one day. He made it simple and easy for us to have eternal life and be reunited with our loved ones. To God be the glory!
We are confronted with them every day. Most of those choices are rather simple and their impact is minimal, but there are situations where they can be life-altering or have a great effect on others around us.

These effects can either be positive or negative and may not always be noticeable right away. It is wise to give due consideration to what the results of our choices could be and it is essential that our actions are based upon God's word and guidance!

It is always a surprise what this year has got in store for us. Some of these surprises may be pleasant and some may not be. We may encounter situations we don't like, have to deal with sicknesses we don't want, and get into arguments we could have done without. We just don't know, but God does.

One thing is for sure; it all depends on how we handle all those situations. We can deal with them according to our human nature, or approach and deal with them Christ-like. The difference is like night and day; the first will only aggravate things, while the outcome of the latter is always for the best.

It is a new year and if you haven't done it yet you may want to approach it in a new light. God is and has the answer to everything!

Although things may not always turn out the way we had anticipated or expected or in times of turmoil and problems, when blessings are overshadowed or hidden from us, they are present. Sometimes they are quite obvious, sometimes we have to look for them.

In the last case, it usually comes down to taking the time, finding, and counting your blessings. When you do so, you will be pleasantly surprised and conclude there is so much to be thankful for.

God always ensures there are blessings galore, in every situation!

Psalm 107:1

It is often very difficult to deal with those circumstances and the people involved, but comfort and wisdom are found in and with God. Retaliation is neither an option, nor the solution. Love and prayers are!

Luke 6:28
bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-76839252985919876862013-09-02T08:12:00.001-05:002013-09-02T08:12:51.160-05:00Prayer Request September 2013There is so much going on these days which might be scary or troublesome. It may pertain to your life, the things going on in the world around you, or both. The tendency to act on fear is great, but anything that is not done out of love, hope, and faith is a recipe for failure.

We shouldn't even be surprised hearing about, witnessing, and experiencing all the turmoil. The Bible already warns us about all the things that will occur before the return of Christ and it should not increase our fear. It should increase our hope and faith!

Matthew 24:6
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-69192059948583247222013-08-01T08:05:00.000-05:002013-08-01T08:05:21.006-05:00Prayer Request August 2013There is so much going on that there are times when my head is spinning. I know I am not an exception to the rule; we all experience days when our attention is required and demanded from all sides. The tendency to get overwhelmed is great and some things may be overlooked, forgotten, or simply postponed.

All three happened to me. I overlooked and forgot and put off things which can easily be done when everything has calmed down again. The latter presents no problem, but the first two might have caused some frustration and irritation with others. All I can do is explain the situation, hope for their understanding, and ask their forgiveness.

I am just happy to know that God already has!

Psalm 86:5
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-79598826861910325332013-07-01T06:02:00.001-05:002013-07-01T06:02:50.503-05:00Prayer Request July 2013We all have our own way of approaching, doing and resolving things and there is nothing wrong with that. God has blessed each one of us with different gifts, skills, and abilities, and we put those to a use which works best for us.

What works for us doesn't necessarily mean it works for others and we have to be mindful not to impose our way onto them. It is one thing to try and force them to do things our way, but it is an entirely different situation to encourage and help them find solutions to their problems.

We don't know best, but God does. Through faith and prayers answers and solutions will be provided!

Romans 12:16
16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Probably more then we would like, but what can you do about it? When it happens, we have the tendency to get angry and disappointed.

Anger is an expression of hurt. We should examine though who hurt us; the person who gave us the words, or us doing it to ourselves by believing those words. Yes, the latter. We had expectations and counted on what was said.

There is a big difference between having expectations and hope. Expectations which don't come true lead to hurt and depression. Hope on the other hand gives life!

Romans 5:5
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-56029138221885727952013-05-01T08:43:00.000-05:002013-05-01T08:43:00.299-05:00Prayer Request May 2013Having faith sounds easy and simple enough to do, but when it comes down to reality, it is much more difficult then it seems. What exactly is faith?

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

In other words; faith is not tangible and there is no time-limit set on it. We don't even know if the things we hope for are even in accordance with God's will and plan pertaining to our lives. Still, we got to have faith.

There are more things that require faith, but the most important one is to believe that He is. Where would we be if didn't have faith in that? That's right; we would be lost!

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-6434024889890770242013-04-01T07:26:00.001-05:002013-04-01T07:27:38.742-05:00Prayer Request April 2013Our Lord has risen and my hopes are that all of you had a wonderful time celebrating this joyful and happy event. Most of us probably celebrated it in the good company of family and friends and caught up on all the occurrences in their lives.

It is always good being able to share what is happening in our lives, but we often tend to forget that those are also excellent occasions to share God's word. We don't have to wait for special occasions in order to spread the word; any time is the right time for doing so.

You never know when, what, or how the impact will be. You don't know what a huge difference it will make in someone's life unless and until you share by talking about it. What you can know is that each time you fail to do so, it is a missed opportunity!

Hebrews 13:16
But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-1278478373416582272013-03-01T06:14:00.000-06:002013-03-01T06:14:14.956-06:00Prayer Request March 2013So many times, we fret over and dwell on words, actions, and situations that are hurtful and/or very disturbing. They can cause us a lot of distress and take up the majority of our time. We desperately try to come up with solutions to ease the pain and end the suffering, but no matter how hard we try, we find none.

This can often lead to hopelessness, but there is absolutely no reason for that. We just have to accept that it is all in God's hands. He knows all about it and will not leave us in such a terrible place. He has the best solution to everything, but we need patience.

He will work his perfect plan at the perfect time and will give us strength, consolation, hope, peace, and encouragement while we wait in faith!

Psalm 118:5
I called on the Lord in distress; The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-33778532680406457812013-02-01T05:21:00.000-06:002013-02-01T05:21:27.974-06:00Prayer Request February 2013The parable of the mustard seed has come to mind often lately. Mainly because there are so many situations we can do nothing about. We sure would like to and wreck our brains trying to find solutions to problems that may not be ours, which we didn't even create, asked for, and/or wanted to happen.

The strange thing is that we should know by now that God works in mysterious ways and can and will take a mess and turn it into gold. That can occur in an instance, or in His appointed time. We have seen it happen many times before. Even if we weren't aware of that yet, we can rest assured; God has only our best in mind.

It all comes down to faith!
Looking back, you may come to the conclusion you didn't accomplish what you had set out or intended to do.

That shouldn't be any reason for concern or regret. As long as there is a breath, there is an opportunity for a new beginning. Even though 2012 is history and will never return, an entirely new year lies in front of us and every day is a fresh start.

How it turns out to be is up to us and totally depends on the choices and decisions we make within the boundaries that God has set. The best choice and decision is to begin in and with Christ. When we do, we can rest assured we will successfully reach our goal.

A very Happy and blessed New Year, everyone!
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Corryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05005702558743767245noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17826286.post-82569992714260238122012-12-01T09:18:00.001-06:002012-12-01T09:18:08.126-06:00Prayer Request December 2012It is that time of year again when practically everyone is extremely busy, wondering about what to serve for Christmas dinner, what to give their loved ones, what time is most convenient to set up the decorations, and how to incorporate all the things that need doing into an already full schedule.

More often then not it occurs that some things are being forgotten and/or overlooked. It is usually at the last minute when we are reminded or those and we go out of our wits and ways to make it happen, because without it Christmas wouldn't be perfect.

Let's not forget and overlook the real reason for this celebration. Let's not let it come down to the last minute to be reminded of it, because without God's wonderful Gift there wouldn't be a Christmas at all!
