Prayer Request May 2006

So many times in our lives the trials and tribulations become too much and overwhelming. Despair and hopelessness come rolling at us and there seems to be no way to survive. How wonderful it is to know that we are not alone. He is with us through all of it, carrying us in His protecting arms, giving us peace in the knowledge that He will provide.

Luke 8:24
And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm.

Things in the past, things in the future
Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true
All of our joys, all of our challenges
Our hearts and our prayers are surrendered to You

Oh yes, Lord!
Teach us to trust and obey You more and more each day.
You're in control of every situation in our lives.
You'll never leave nor forsake us.
Thank you, Lord.
Thank you, Jesus.
In Jesus' most precious name, we pray.
Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father
We would like to remember all our relatives and friends who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments now.
We unite and pray that there will be complete removal of all cancer cells.
Oh Lord, please protect their good cells from all harm.
We pray against all side-effects.
May they have the strength, peace and comfort to complete the course of treatment.
May they have good appetite to eat and drink.
May they be able to rest and sleep well.
We agree and pray together that they will have complete recovery and healing.
Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus.
Oh Lord, please guide the oncologists, technicians and nurses as they administer the treatment.
We give You all the glory, honour and power.
We lift up Your most holy name.
Our Lord is able to perform great miracles.
He heals! He lives!
We pray all these in Jesus' most powerful name.
Amen!

I've decided to focus my May 4 devotional today on patience-- a virtue everyone needs to confront life's hardship and grow spiritually... I needed to teach myself again.

Corry, what you've written for this month is so true. So many times in my personal life the trials and tribulations become too much and overwhelming. I have experienced despair, depression, helplessness and hopelessness , yet it's so fantastic to know that we are not alone. God's Immanuel - and He's with us all the time.

Thanks sis, you're such an inspiration and blessing to me.

Hi all prayer partners, I have decised to have a break for the next few weeks, so my posts will not be as regular from now on. I need to rest more, have solitude more often, and take more time out to be still. Would appreciate your prayer during this time of solitude, that I can hear God's direction and guidance for my life.

May God bless you all!

Father, I pray for Ryan. He says despair is the story of his life. Only you know the whole truth behind that statement. May you comfort him as he watches his mother suffer. Lord, give him peace and allow him to feel your real love that you have for him and his mother.

Lord, help us all in blogland to honor you and to live peaceably with one another, not offending, but building one another up in that which is true and beautiful about Yourself.

Thanks for your prayers.

Hmmmm.... I just got two different job offers in one day at week's end! So I hope may praise now might translate into something tangible this week. One employer pretty much told me I am hired. It was also good to hear from an attorney today, who said, "I was pleased to see your resume..." Anyway, I'm setting an interview this week. They are operating in several cities, expanding operations and looking for a legal assistant to head a local office, and this a good move for my resume as an aspiring attorney.

I think I want to save up, pay off my students loans, and go back to law school (which I cannot afford now) and get that Juris Doctorate. God willing I'm going in with my boxing gloves on and in His strength. I want to be an advocate, not a desk jockey but a real courtroom attorney one day! Constitutional law!

Though, a pastor has reminded me the Reformers Calvin and Luther were providentially hindered, and God took them from law to ministry. When I went to Pat Robertson's school Regent briefly in 2003-'04, I was bold enough to apply for their joint Law and Divinity program, though it became readily apparent that I could not afford either at the time. I often felt double-minded about my calling, and somewhat apt to take my friends advice that the do everything renaissance man doesn't cut it in the real world. You have to have some clear-cut direction basically. I will prayerfully seek God's will for my life in my transitional time as I accrue savings, pay down my existing student loans, and work for a law firm (if indeed that's where providence will lead me.) Though, I know of a lawyer now that is about to finish seminary and get ordained. In the end, I say not my will be done, but His. I hope I will become perceptive of God's perfect will for my life, and seek it earnestly through His enabling. "If God be for us, who can be against us?"

I will try and do another pulpit sermon this year in any case. I've come to realize God has given me a ministry right now-- and it's not about credentials, but embracing discipleship where we are now. God has a place for everyone in the local church (male and female) to serve in some capacity.

I've got quite a bit of growing to do before I handle tasks of spiritual leadership. I want to learn servant leadership. And I know there are no spiritual plateaus in life, we've got to keep climbing higher and higher.

(Oh! Sorry this is a long message ;-) I type fast, have a big mouth and brevity is not one of my strong points... I study law after all.)

i'm currently reading Jane Eyre. I saw it on your favourites. I like your blog here. I just want to ask you to pray for the two miners in Australia who have been trapped down in the mine for 13 days. I'm not sure if you've heard anything about it. Our nation is hoping they'll be out today, but it keeps getting interupted with complications. God Bless you!

Greetings in the name of our mutual Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I'm happy to accept an invitation to join this prayer forum. I appreciate the spirit of charity and warm reception.

A pastor once told me that ministry is praying for others when we need prayer. How true that is.

I've been broken, and God got me where he wanted me through heartache, trials, and afflictions, and he is still molding and making me. Without God's blessing I look for no success, and I can do no good works and accomplish nothing apart from his grace. Anyway,
I want to set my sights on God's promises- let the past be the past, and move forward in victory.

Thank you for your prayers. May our Lord bless you all richly that you might grow in His love and grace.

Ryan

"I have a tender reliance on the mercy of the Almighty, through the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner. I look to Him for mercy; pray for me."

Dear Father God, please embrace Pia and Jec with Your great love. They need Your help, Your strength, and answers. Please look after them, and make known to them Your amazing grace and mercy in this time of difficulty and disappointment.

Thank you Jesus for brother Ryan. His commitment to you and faith is really encouraging! I can truly identify with him in terms of being broken and having gone though trials in life. Yet Your grace is also sufficient for us. I pray that you'll continue to mould us and make us. May You bless Ryan and everyone of our prayer partners here.

Thank you Lord for the opportunity for us to love one another through prayers.

In Jesus' name, Amen!

Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus.

We would like to remember all the young children who are celebrating their first mother's day without their own mothers today. Oh Lord! Please be with these innocent children everyday. You can feel their sadness and loneliness. They're missing their very special mothers on this special day. You can hear their cries. You can see their tears. Please comfort them. May these very young children feel Your love for them daily. You're the best mother to them now and forever. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus.

We would like to remember and pray for all the very special ladies who had lost their children and/or are trying to have a baby of their own. Oh Lord! You know their struggles and pain. You understand their hurts and lost. You know their heart's desires too. Oh Lord! Please bless them abundantly. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus.

We would like to remember and pray for all the mothers here. Oh Lord! Thank you so much for our children. We surrender them to You. They belong to you. Please continue to guide and protect them. May each of them continue to have a very close walk with You. May our children have a very personal relationship with You. May they call You Abba Father every moment of their lives. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus.

Please teach us how to be better mothers. We need Your mercy, love, grace, strength and protection.
