When we are being hurt it is so easy to become judgmental and vengeful, but that does not solve anything. On the contrary; it can and will not only aggravate the situation, but is not according to the fruits of the Spirit either.

It is much better to take pity on and pray for the person who wronged us and caused us so much pain. We can take comfort in the knowledge that God knows all about it and will act accordingly. He has only our best interest in mind and If God is for us, then who can be against us?!

Deuteronomy 20:4
for the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.’

There is an entirely new year ahead of us and we don't know what it will bring. Whether it is a good year, or a bad year, is for the most part in our own hands. The decisions we make, the actions we undertake, and the words we speak, have a great bearing on the outcome of any situation that will come our way.

We need to keep that in mind in everything we do and say, and ask for God's leadership and guidance. He knows best and by doing His will we are assured that the coming year will turn out rewarding and profitable for everyone and everything involved.

'Tis The Season To Be Jolly'. The season which fills our hearts with joy, happiness, gratitude and thankfulness for all the blessings God has and continues to give us.

God's love and care for us go far beyond our comprehension and is shown to us every day, even though we may not always see or be aware of it. This season however reminds us of how great His love for us is; He gave us the greatest Gift of all; His only begotten Son! :-)

1 John 4:9
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

Life is a daily struggle doing what is right, best and needed and that comes with many worries, concerns and often heavy burdens. Some things require we do our part, but there are many things which are not up to us to solve.

Rest, relaxation and enjoying all the blessings God is giving us are an essential part of this earthly life as well. When we have done all we can and needed to do, it is time to step back and 'let go and let God'!

Ecclesiastes 5:18
Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage.

Every now and then we get pretty overwhelmed with all kinds of daily responsibilities, work, problems, and whatever else may come our way. It happens to all of us and can result in some things being overlooked, or simply forgotten.

That turned out to be the case for me last month; I was so busy and preoccupied that it totally slipped my mind to make an entry for September on our Prayer List. I hope you will forgive me and should you find yourself in the same situation, then I pray God will strengthen you and see you through it quickly!

that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,

I suppose we all have those days when we wonder why things occur as they do. It may all seem so contrary to what we think should have happened and we don't understand the reason behind it all.

Sometimes, we may never get to know the reason. In many cases however, when given time, we see how everything worked out for the best and we have to admit we could never have come up with such an excellent solution.

God can and does and even when we don't understand we can have faith He has a plan. Let's be thankful for all His blessings and provisions!

Psalm 100:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

You may find yourself in a situation where you are lacking something. This can be on a financial, mental or emotional level. We all can sympathize; at one point we have been there, done that.

There is a solution to everything though and it usually comes when we least expect it; all we have to do is trust God. Spiritually, we lack nothing and living by faith ensures that even in these situations God will provide!

Psalm 34:10
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

We all are aware of the fact that this earthly life will come to an end and when that will be is God's decision. It is always sad when we have to miss a loved one, even though we have the knowledge they are finally home and in a much better place.

May God's comfort, love and strength fill the hearts of all those who lost someone close to them and console them with the knowledge that in time they will be reunited again.

Ephesians 1:10
that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth — in Him.

There are many who are in need of our prayers; those who fell victim to an illness, those who fell victim to tornadoes and those who are otherwise afflicted. Some may be close, but several will be far away which makes helping out rather difficult.

Even though we may or may not be in a position to help out physically, we can always resort to something small, but very powerful: praying. God hears every one of them!

James 5:15
And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

We plan ahead, set goals and do what is needed to reach them, but many times it doesn't work out the way we had anticipated. It seems like we are constantly obstructed by bumps in the road of life, pitfalls and fiery darts.

Maybe we are looking at it from a false perspective and what we perceive as obstructions may turn out to be blessings in disguise; pointers from God, leading and guiding us to and down the path He has in mind for us.

Even though His path may go the opposite direction from the course we plotted, it is the way to happiness and everlasting life!

Proverbs 16:33
The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the LORD.

We have a lot to be thankful for, even though it may not always seem like it. It is very easy to get overwhelmed with all that life throws at us and get all concerned to a point where we may either be facing or battling depression.

It is at that point where we should give ourselves a time out, take some time to ourselves, and instead of looking at all the sorrow, concerns and fiery darts, find all the blessings and look at how all our needs are being filled by God.

Let's find comfort in Him and His provisions and the knowledge that God has ways of taking care of all the problems and He will, in His own time!

Sorrow and concerns may fill our minds and hearts from the moment we open our eyes in the morning, until the moment we lay our heads down again at night.

It may seem like the only escape we have is during the comfort and consolation that comes with sleep. If that is the case, then we should stop, reconsider and count our blessings.

Constant comfort, consolation and many blessings during the day are given by God who is with us every step of the way. We should be mindful of that and when we do, we suddenly realize that life is not as cumbersome as it appears to be.

On the contrary; there is much to be thankful for and to enjoy!

A new year lies before us and we don't know what it will bring, but God does.

December is usually one of those months when we all are extremely busy; buying presents, decorating, preparing for dinner, sending Christmas cards, and looking forward to spending time with our family and friends.

It is often a hectic time and we get so busy with ensuring everything is ready and perfect, we tend to forget what it is all about until Christmas arrives. It does not all have to be elaborate and perfect; let's just be thankful and grateful and celebrate the Reason for the season!

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

It is easy to overlook how God sees to and meets all our needs, because we tend to confuse a need with a want. When we sit down and count all our blessings, we become aware of the fact that each blessing takes care of a need.

A roof over our heads, food on the table, even a few nice words, or a smile from the lady behind the cash register may already fill a need.We may not always see how, where, and what, but God does!

When we look around, we see so many people who have a need of some sorts. Some are desperately hankering for good health, others could use a job, or are in financial distress, some may need guidance, etc.

It is a blessing being able to help each other out in those trying times and we should look for the opportunities to do so. After all; how relieved and thrilled would we be, receiving help in times of need?

We all have a need for love, care, safety, and security. It is a great help if we give that to each other, but it is so awesome and comforting, knowing that God fills our needs constantly! :-)

Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Trials come upon us usually when we least expect and certainly don't need them. The tendency to gripe and complain is great which only aggravates the situation and increases the discomfort.

We can find comfort and encouragement in the acceptance that, even though we don't like what is happening, God is in control and has only our best in mind!

Isaiah 49:13
Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth! And break out in singing, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people, And will have mercy on His afflicted.

Incredible, how God watches over us. We may not be aware of it; at the time it may seem like what is happening is very disturbing, upsetting, stressful and trying and we may not understand why it happens when it does.

Looking back however, we can see God's love, care and protection in all of it. Things would have gone terribly wrong if God hadn't watched out for and over us. It all happens for a reason, in accordance with His will, and in His perfect time!

Even though we may be aware that all things happen for a reason, a lot of times we don't like what is happening.

We may neither want any fiery darts coming our way, nor any turmoil or sickness in our lives, but even all those trials are used by God with only our best in mind!

There is not only a reason for everything, but there are blessings hidden in each situation and occurrence as well. Those blessings may not be obvious right away, but when we stop and look for them, we will find them.

Focusing on the blessings and being thankful for them is encouraging, gives us comfort and strengthens us in faith. The tribulations we are going through are being put in perspective and the burdens are not as heavy as they seemed.

God loves us, cares for us, will never leave nor forsake us. That is a major blessing already, isn't it?!!! :-)

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Comfort; when taken the time to consider it, we come to the understanding that comfort is the peace we find in the reassurance that, in time, all will turn out for the best. It is only a phase in life which has to be gone through. That too will pass.

Having family and friends, who will give us that comfort when it is needed, is a tremendous help, but even when there is no one around in a time of need we know God is always with us. That is the greatest comfort of all!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Today is April Fool's Day and many pranks will be played and lots of jokes will go around. Laughing is good for body, heart, mind and soul. It lifts the spirit and reminds us that there is more to life then just sorrow and grief.

We have the tendency to put more importance on daily problems then on all the blessings God gives us each day. Those problems are only temporary, but God's gift of eternal life lasts forever. We should not loose sight of that and rejoice in His blessings, goodness, mercy and love for and to us.

Proverbs 15:13
A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

It is inevitable to go through this life without getting hurt. Words and/or actions may cut deep and our initial reaction would be to strike back because our feelings are so overwhelming. That is our sign to stop, step back and focus on the fruits of the Spirit.

No one, but us, is obligating ourselves to give an immediate response. It is better to take the time to let things settle and think about what would be best and needed and let those involved know as well, explaining the reason why. In the end it will turn out for the best.

Christ leads by example and He gave us all the directions we need to follow in His footsteps.

Galatians 5:22-24
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Anger, pain and desperation have the tendency to overshadow all the blessings and joy God gives us every day. Instead, we let sorrow and concerns stop us from having life and allow them to eat us from the inside out.

It takes a lot of commitment and determination to keep on having faith and practising and applying the fruits of the Spirit, when you are experiencing difficult times in your life.

Those trials however, even though they seem bad, will only make us stronger. They are given to strengthen our faith and trust in God. He is guiding, leading and protecting us every step of the way. There is hope, love, joy and happiness in Him!

Psalm 16:11
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

An entire new year lies ahead of us and many have made some resolutions and will try to carry them out. Some may succeed in realizing them and some may not, but at least the effort will be put forth towards the goal.

We often start out with enthusiasm and determination, but when the going gets tough the tendency to quit is great and becomes more appealing by the minute. Quitting may be a relief, but reaching the goal by mustering up the patience and perseverance is much more fulfilling.

Living by God's word may not always be easy, but there is no greater reward then the fulfillment, happiness, refreshment and peace which await us.

Acts 3:19
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

It is not always easy to muster up patience, but it is part of love. We like to make things happen instead of waiting until everything falls in place. What we tend to forget is that by forcing our will and/or wants, we often create a mess or add to it.

This month we celebrate God's greatest gift to us. We buy presents out of love to show our love, but by practising the fruits of the Spirit we show more love then any present every will.

We can have patience through faith. God will do His wonderful work, but it will happen in His time and His timing is always perfect!

Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.

Thanksgiving is not far away and we have so much to be thankful for. Not one day passes without His blessings; some may be small, others may be huge. It is easy to overlook them and thank and praise Him for all His love and care.

It may not be a bad idea to take some time at the end of the day and reflect upon it. Look for the blessings in all that occurred and you may become aware of some you had not noticed.

May we always be mindful of His goodness and be grateful, give thanks and praise God for all His provisions.

The look of the Prayer List has changed; it was long overdue in my perception and I hope it is to your likings as well. It took a while before I was able to get around to it. Between work and everyday life, I never seemed to find any time. It took breaking out of the cycle to make a change.

Following in Jesus' footsteps requires making a life-altering change. It takes an effort to break out of the cycle and live life differently. It is never too late and it is never too early to do so, but once that change is made, the reward is beyond imagination.

He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

he trials of life can get too much at times. Problems are being thrown at us and people's words and actions can cause great pain. We can not take vengeance and we can not judge; it is not our place.

We can count on God's protection though and Him watching over us. We can strengthen our faith knowing He will take care of it in His time and in accordance with His will and it will all be for our best.

Since we are all human, we will never be perfect in this life. That does not give us a justification to shed ourselves of the responsibility to try and perfect ourselves as much as possible; we still have to do our part. We can be safe and secure in the fact that God will do His!

Problems can be overwhelming and consuming at times and the saying: "A hundred years from now, no one will even know or care", may be true, but our words and actions will have an effect on our future generation and therefore on the future.

Let's keep in mind that we lead by example and that the ripple effect of our testimony today, will have an impact on times to come.

We are all unique and with so many different people walking the face of this earth also come many different opinions, thoughts and believes. Pride and arrogance can close the mind, which too often results in disputes, arguments, fights, wars and persecution.

Consideration and an open mind could be very edifying and bring us a little closer to the truth. If we have to do battle then let it be the battle in ourselves, where love conquers pride.

Anxieties..., I think we all may have experienced them. Not knowing what is going to happen next, being concerned and consumed either with the afflictions of others who we care about, or ourselves. The worries and concerns tend to paralyse us and constantly keep us on our toes.

There are situations that we can not do anything about, or are not even our responsibility. God gave us the solution to those circumstances: Faith. It is comforting to know that He has ways and everything will work it out in His time.

Psalm 94:19
In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.

We may not always realize it, but there are so many things to be thankful for. The blessings God has given us, are numerous. Take the time to stop, look around and count all the blessings you see.

The diversity in beauty and fragrance of each flower. The dancing of the many gorgeous varieties of butterflies. There is one blessing after another and these are just a few of those we can actually see.

Let us not forget to be thankful for all the other blessings. The ones, that can not be seen with the naked eye.

We are constantly 'under construction'. On a daily basis, we fight sinful nature and try to live according to God's word. It is not easy and sometimes, we could use some help, support and encouragement.

All that, we can find in the love and care of our brothers and sisters. But more important is, not to forget the love and care of Our Father. He is always there, more then willing to give us what we need and even then some.

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Life can be pretty stressful. The things that have to and need to be done, can overshadow the many blessings, that occur throughout the day. Sometimes, we may even totally overlook them.

It would be good to set some time aside and count all those blessings, which God has given us. And let us not forget, the greatest gift and blessing of all: His Son!

We are constantly confronted with problems. It is difficult to let go and let God, but after having done our part, we have to give it over to Him.

Often, pride will prevent us from doing so. Letting God take over will strengthen our faith and assure us, that all will go just as He intended it to. All will work out for the best!

Seasons come and go and each one adorns the landscape with it's own beauty, but also has to face it's own trials. Blistering sun, droughts, flooding rain, storms and freezing cold, separate the weak from the strong and prod the last to root deeper and grow stronger, yielding more fruit.

Each stage of life comes with it's own trials. Some may be painful, some may be stressful, some seem pointless. They all try to tear us down. Even for those times, God provided. With and in faith, we can withstand the blows of this earthly life and only root deeper, grow stronger and yield more and better fruit.

When we know, we did our part and have done all we could do, it is time to practise patience and rest in and with faith. We can and we should.

It may not be easy, but at times we have to let go and let God. He allows for it, so we can be recharged and enjoy all His blessings, while He works His perfect plan.

We all are unique. We have our own personalities, abilities, tastes and preferences. With so many different people also come so many different needs. God knows every single need and provides accordingly. He does not want for us to do without. He will not let us go hungry. He gives us our daily bread.

God leads our life where He wants it. He has a purpose in, and a reason for all that happens. It may sweep us off our feet at times and we may not understand why, but we can have faith that He has the perfect plan for us.

Even in trials and tribulations He leaves joys and treasures along the way, like the blessing to be encouraged by sharing in the steadfast faith of those afflicted.

Greed comes in many forms. It displays itself as a want. A want for riches, power, control, or just something we want to have as a possession. We can not always have what we want. Dwelling on what we don't have, will only result in misery, unhappiness, and in oblivion to all the blessings we are given.

Gaining wisdom and understanding, is not something we can buy. Those are blessings from God, which should never be overlooked.

Job 28:18
No mention shall be made of coral or quartz, For the price of wisdom is above rubies.

Life can be like a wild river. Sometimes you can drift on calm waters, enjoying the scenery, but you never know what lies around the bend. Before you know it, you are in for a bumpy ride and the wild waters are about tip you over and pull you down. You struggle and fight to survive and reach your destination.

Even finding ourselves in trying to defeat the wild waters of this life, we have faith to keep us afloat and we know, God is always right by our side and nothing escapes Him.

Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.

The fiery darts keep coming and the end of the trials does not seem to be near. Our faith is tried on a daily basis. Even in the midst of those trials, there are many blessings. Some are great and some are small, but they are there. Even during these trials, He is easing our sufferings!

And the LORD God prepared a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be shade for his head to deliver him from his misery. So Jonah was very grateful for the plant.

Many storms will occur in life. They will try to uproot us and tear us away from our foundation. Some may overwhelm us and instill fear, but the trust in Our Lord will give us strength to withstand it, come out stronger and grow even more in faith.

The reason of this late post is, because I let earthly things consume my mind. I put more value on them then I should have.

It is way too easy to let that happen. God has a way though to pull us back. His ways are gentle and loving. When we are receptive to the reminder, we see it. I know I did and I am so grateful. Not only did it pull me back to Him, it also gave me great peace. Building treasures on this earth will all pass, building treasures in Heaven will remain forever!

but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Life can get pretty hectic and requests for help are made from every direction. Just when we think we reached our limitations, God gives us the strength to continue and we can go the extra mile. We are running on grace and God will not put more on us then we can bear. He is our strength and rest!

Decorations are taken out of the closets, Christmas trees are being set up, stockings are hung. Houses and yards are being illuminated with many lights and people get anxious over buying presents, however the greatest Gift we received long ago and is everlasting.

Every where you look, advertisements for enhancing your looks, jewels, diets, clothes and exercise-equipment is at the order of the day. However, any outward-beauty does not even come close to Christ's beauty, reflected through and by the inner-man!

As long as we stay on the path God has laid out for us, we know we are safe and secure. Only the best will happen and awaits us, that is what God has in mind for us! When we get off track, that's when we need to worry. Sometimes the complexity of things makes us desperately wonder how, or if, it's ever going to work out and leaves us breaking our brains to come to a solution.
Now, when God's ingenious mind can (and did) create for example, nature, which is not only for our pleasure and enjoyment, but also produces the air that we breath, how much better can He take our mess and turn in into gold?! We may not see it, but when we turn it over to Him in faith, He joins it all together, to come to His perfect plan and solution for us.

Agenda's, planners, schedules, sticky-notes on the fridge, are the order of the day. The "to-do"-list is overloaded and sometimes the day seems just not long enough to get everything accomplished. We get nervous, stressed, agitated and easily aggravated. We make ourselves so busy, that we often forget there is only one thing to do: To stop and spend quiet time with Our Lord!

It is such an encouragement and comfort knowing there is a family in Christ praying in unity, responding to a prayer-request or asking for prayer. Even when it is for a total stranger. February...Valentine's Day. That day we emphasize our love for our loved one by gifts and other tokens expressing how special he/she is to us and in our life. God doesn't choose one day a year to show us His love. To Him, every day is Valentine's Day and every day He shows us how special we are and how much He loves us!
